Germans
Here is my parallel weekly notepad to my Deutsch one. This one is for Germans in America. America has changed and is headed in a bad direction for American Germans. Many of who haven’t the faintest notion of what happens around them. So, if you’re German, and like me, have found your life has come to a halt, you should think of a drastic life change. For me, I am to leave America as an expat to find work in my fatherland. If you’re lost, look around you and take notice.
American Germans are most notably concentrated in the Oregon country and the Philadelphia country. Here in Los Angeles there are many Germans, but there are more Spanish. This seems goofy and redundant to write these things but I’ve yet to hear or see anyone else offer guidance for German Americans.
The most famous American Germans are Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich, who are politicians. Most Germans don’t really pay attention to politics. Here in Los Angeles the most famous successful German I know of is Henry Rollins of music and talkshow fame. He started his show life a street punk and now he travels the world. He is a peace activist and does some social commentary. I once purchased one of his DVDs. He knows Los Angeles like the back of his hand.
In America the most German of the music I listened to when I was a child was Nirvana, who are of the Pacific Northwest like me. They were my first music purchase and my first favorite. Then there is Pantera, Megadeth, Danzig and Misfits 1990s. Most of these musicians are Germans who express themselves very Germanlike. They don’t always speak for me on a personal level but music never really has to. Not all the time. Sometimes never.
I’m not very strict with drugs, I’m not religious, I don’t like lowlifes, I don’t like badgers, I like my freedoms although my freedoms have been violated countless times these past few years, high are my standards, my food tastes delicious, I like attractive German girls, my money earned not lent, my property untouched, my mind clear, I don’t like criminals, hard asses, backstabbers, the runaround, the code talk, the backwards tongues, the mimery, I’m not a fighter, I’m not a trickster, I like having privacy, I work hard, I’m effective, I like to party, I don’t vote, I’ve never voted, I wont ever vote, I like to drink, get high, have close friends and live a simple hedonists life of carnal pleasure and relative peace, I’m not spiritual, I don’t like being homeless, I’m not snudy, I’m not a puppet, I’m not a slave, nor subservient. Don’t expect kiss ass from me!
